Mrs Seema Kumar - Chairman:

Seema is very active in local politics having a very keen sense of community. She has also been involved in charity work for a number of years and during that time has raised many thousands of pounds for several children's charities. Since joining Childrens Hope Foundation in 2004, she has already had a tremendous impact on the development of the charity.
During the 80’s, Seema established and ran her own successful travel business, operating from Central London premises. She has been actively involved in business since that time.
In 1977, following an invitation from its’ founder, Mrs Alice Hemming, she joined, at a very young age, the Commonwealth Countries league charity and was quickly nominated and appointed to the post of treasurer. Subsequently she worked her way to Vice Chairman and then Chairman in which post she remained until 1994. During her time with the charity she helped raise considerable funds for their work.
Other Charity Work
In addition to her work with the CCL she also served successfully as Vice chairman of the Chiswick and Hammersmith branch of Save the Children for 4 years
She has also helped Princess Helena with Help the Aged committee.
On the committee of Commonwealth Society for the Deaf and raised funds under the patronage of Princess Diana and Brigadier John Davies, the then Chief Executive.
Chairman of the Asian Family Counselling Service (a registered charity)
Seema served on the gala committee for the Agha Khan Ball in the 90's, responsible for organising the entire raffle and 1000 gifts to the value of £100 each.
Seema has helped with several other committees during the same period of time and has served on the committee of Concern for Mental Health for the last 3 years.
Helped raise funds for Happy Days Children’s Charity and joined Children’s Hope Foundation in 2002, and was elected Chairman in 2005 and has served in that role since that time. In the last 18 months she has worked on the charity shop project and has now established our first charity shop which has and continues to entail a huge personal involvement to ensure its’ successful growth. She is also working closely with the Chief Executive, Tom Doran, on the recruitment of a manager as well as several other key projects.
Political Work:
Seema has fundraised for her local association for several years. During that time, she undertook the role of Fundraising Campaign Director for Daniel Kaw in the general election in 2002. She also fundraised for Steve Norris’s mayoral campaign.
Standing for election in the 2006 local elections she was elected to serve for Acton Central until 2010 during which time she was dep. portfolio holder for health and community well-being amongst several other committees on the council becoming Deputy Mayor of Ealing in 2008/9.
She has undergone the Parliamentary selection process for a by-election. Currently she is Chairman of the Ealing Central and Acton Conservatives Patrons Club.
